A Greek passport qualifies for Azerbaijan’s electronic visa, so there is no consulate queue to join. The Azerbaijan eVisa for Greek citizens is requested on one online form, whether you are in Athens, Thessaloniki or abroad, and the approved visa reaches you by email as a secure download link.

Where Greece stands on Azerbaijan’s visa rules
Greece is not one of the countries Azerbaijan currently admits without a visa. Those temporary arrangements cover only Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Singapore, so a Greek traveller needs a visa before departure. Greece is on the eVisa list, though, and that means the whole request can be made online. Travel companions holding other passports should look up their own nationality on the eligible countries list, and the Azerbaijan eVisa overview explains how the electronic visa works in general.
A passport, not your identity card
Many Greeks cross EU borders with nothing but their identity card, but this application is built around a passport: the form asks for the passport number, its expiry date and a scan of the photo page, and the eVisa is issued for that passport. Make sure it will still be valid for at least 180 days on the day you arrive in Azerbaijan, and renew it first if it will not. What you need to apply lists the accepted scan formats and the remaining requirements. If you also hold a Cypriot passport, Cyprus is on the eVisa list as well; apply with whichever of the two you will show at the border.
Your name on the Azerbaijan eVisa for Greek citizens
A Greek passport prints your name twice: once in Greek letters and once in Latin letters. The form asks for the surname and given names as they appear in the passport, so copy the Latin version exactly as printed. If the passport says GEORGIOS, enter GEORGIOS even if you sign as Yorgos; if it says PAPADOPOULOU, keep every letter rather than spelling it the way a relative’s passport does. Greek names can be transliterated in several ways, and a spelling that differs from the passport by a single letter is exactly the kind of mismatch we ask you to correct before anything is submitted.
How long you can stay
Once issued, the eVisa stays valid for 90 days, and a stay under it may last up to 30 days, so a summer trip can fall anywhere inside the validity period but cannot stretch beyond a month. Staying longer than 15 days means you must be registered at your address in Azerbaijan; the migration rules say who takes care of it, and duration of stay sets out the limits in more detail.
Standard or urgent, and your arrival date
For the Azerbaijan eVisa for Greek citizens, standard processing takes 3 working days and urgent processing takes 3 hours. The speed you pick also decides the earliest arrival date the form will accept: on standard the arrival must be at least 4 days after the day you apply, while urgent allows an arrival on the same day. A holiday planned weeks ahead fits standard comfortably; a short-notice business trip is what urgent is for.
What the Azerbaijan eVisa for Greek citizens costs
The price is set per traveller: USD 59 each with standard processing and USD 130 each with urgent. Three friends travelling together on standard processing therefore pay USD 177, and the review page shows the exact total before you pay. Payment is charged in Azerbaijani manat (AZN), with the dollar figures given for reference; refunds and the official portal’s own fee are explained on the fee page.
Azerbaijan’s mission in Athens
You never need to visit the embassy for an eVisa. The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Athens is at 13 Marathonodromon, 15452 P. Psychico, and publishes its own information at athens.mfa.gov.az; it deals with other visa categories and consular questions. The same embassy is also accredited to Albania. Albania is not on the eVisa list, so this form is not open to Albanian passport holders, including the many who live in Greece, and they should ask the embassy what applies to them. Phone numbers and email addresses are listed under Greece on our Azerbaijan embassies page.
Sending the application
The form takes one sitting. You enter the trip, add each traveller with a passport scan, read everything back on the review page and pay. We then go through the application before it is passed to the official portal, and if a scan is blurred or a name does not match the passport, we write to you first. The decision belongs to the Azerbaijani authorities; once it is made you get an email with a secure link to download the eVisa, and a printed copy should travel with the passport it was issued for. Start your application for the Azerbaijan eVisa for Greek citizens when your dates are settled.
Checking progress
Status updates arrive by email as the application moves along. To look for yourself, enter the application reference and the email address you applied with on check your application status, and a secure link to the current status is sent to that address. Anything not covered here is probably answered in the FAQ.
