To apply for an Azerbaijan eVisa you need a passport or other accepted travel document, a clear image of its photo page, and the personal and travel details asked for in the form. The official Azerbaijan eVisa portal sets the requirements for the document itself. The file rules further down this page — format, size and quality — are ours, and apply to applications made through this service.
Before anything else, check whether your nationality is eligible to apply for an eVisa at all.
Your passport or travel document
These requirements are set by the official Azerbaijan eVisa portal, not by us.

The photo page is the page carrying your photograph, name, date of birth, passport number and expiry date. That is the page you upload.
Do I need a separate passport photo?
No — not for an application made through this service. We ask for one thing from you: an image of the photo page of your passport. There is no separate photograph to take, crop or upload.
This is our requirement, not a government rule
We are describing what our own application asks for. If you apply somewhere else, what you are asked to provide may differ.
What makes your passport scan acceptable
These are our own upload rules. Meeting them means our system will accept your file — it is not a guarantee of any outcome for your application.
- JPEG, PNG or PDF. Other formats are not accepted.
- Up to 8 MB. A phone photograph is normally well inside this.
- The original file, not a renamed one. We check that a file really is the format its name claims, so renaming an image to
.jpgwill not get it through. - A plain PDF. PDFs containing active content are rejected. If yours is refused, export the page as an image instead.
- Legible. Every detail on the photo page should be readable, with the whole page in frame.
One thing worth knowing: we re-encode the images you upload, which removes the location and device data that phones attach to photographs. Your scan reaches us without carrying where it was taken.
Applying for more than one person
One application can cover a single traveller or a family, up to 10 travellers in total. Every person needs their own passport details and their own passport scan — one shared document is not enough.
Your details and your email address
The official Azerbaijan eVisa portal states that applicants are personally responsible for the accuracy of the information they submit, and that an application containing false or incomplete information is not accepted.
Your email address matters more than people expect. The portal sends confirmation of the application, of the payment, and of the decision to the address given on the application. An address entered with a typo means those messages go nowhere. Enter names exactly as they appear in the passport, and check the email address before you submit.
Before you start
- Your passport is valid for at least 6 months from the day you plan to enter Azerbaijan
- It has at least one blank page
- You have a clear image of the photo page, as a JPEG, PNG or PDF under 8 MB
- You have the same for every traveller on the application
- You have an email address you can access
