Croatia on Azerbaijan’s eVisa list

A visa is required, because Croatia is not one of the eight countries that Azerbaijan currently admits under a temporary visa-free arrangement. Croatia is, however, on the eVisa list, which is why the whole request can be made online and no embassy appointment is needed. If someone in your party holds a different passport, they should check that nationality on the eligible countries list; the Azerbaijan eVisa overview explains how the electronic visa works.

Travel document and occupation

Besides name, nationality, passport number and expiry date, the form asks two things about each traveller that people do not always expect. The first is the type of travel document: most Croatian travellers choose Ordinary Passport, while diplomatic, service and special passports have their own options. The second is occupation, picked from a fixed list of 28 entries; it includes Pensioner, Schooler/Student and Unemployed, so there is an option for travellers who are not in work. Each traveller also needs a home address and a clear scan of the passport data page.

One contact for the whole group

The email address and phone number are given once, for the whole application, not per traveller. Every message about the application goes to that address, including status updates, any request for more information and the link to download the visas. If one person organises the trip for friends or colleagues, use an address that person will watch until every result is in. Each traveller still has their own details and receives an eVisa of their own.

Your passport and its scan

Every passport on an application for the Azerbaijan eVisa for Croatian citizens must remain valid for at least 180 days after the day you arrive in Azerbaijan. The scan should show the whole data page, sharp and without glare; what you need to apply explains which file types are accepted and what makes a scan readable.

Thirty days within a 90-day validity

Once issued, the Azerbaijan eVisa for Croatian citizens is valid for 90 days, and during that period you may stay in the country for up to 30 days. Stays longer than 15 days require registration at your place of residence in Azerbaijan; the migration rules say how this is handled, and duration of stay covers what happens at the end of the 30 days.

Speed and cost of the Azerbaijan eVisa for Croatian citizens

Standard processing takes 3 working days, and the arrival date must then be at least 4 days after the day you apply. Urgent processing takes 3 hours and accepts an arrival on the same day. The price is per traveller: USD 59 for standard and USD 130 for urgent, so five friends applying together on standard pay USD 295. Payment is taken in Azerbaijani manat (AZN), with the dollar amounts shown for information; the fee page explains which part of each price is refundable.

Paying, and when work begins

Payment is made online at the end of the form, after the review page has shown your total. Work on the application begins only once the payment has cleared: until then its status is payment pending and nothing is being prepared. An application that is closed before payment completes is marked cancelled, and no work is done on it.

Where the embassy in Zagreb fits in

For an eVisa you do not deal with the embassy at all. The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Zagreb, at Srebrnjak 104, handles other visa categories, for example a stay that would run past 30 days, along with consular matters, and posts its own information at zagreb.mfa.gov.az. Its phone and email details are listed under Croatia on our Azerbaijan embassies page.

After you submit

We review each application before it goes to the official portal and contact you first if a detail or scan needs correcting. The decision rests with the Azerbaijani authorities; when it is recorded, the contact address receives a secure link from which each traveller’s eVisa can be downloaded and printed. In between, you can enter the application reference and that email address on check your application status to be sent a link to the current status, and the FAQ answers common questions.
