A visa is required, and it can be electronic

Nepal is not one of the eight countries whose citizens may enter Azerbaijan without a visa, but Nepali passport holders can use the electronic visa. Our eligible countries list shows every nationality in that position, and the Azerbaijan eVisa page explains the basics.

Applying while living or working abroad

Many Nepalese citizens live in the Gulf, in Malaysia or elsewhere. The visa route depends on the passport, so you apply on your Nepali passport wherever you are. The form keeps two addresses apart: the residence address for each traveller is where that person lives now, which can be outside Nepal, while the accommodation field is for where you will stay in Azerbaijan. Note that an eVisa does not allow paid work in Azerbaijan, as our migration rules page states.

Dates in the Gregorian calendar

The passport expiry date and the arrival date are entered in the Gregorian calendar, the same calendar the passport uses for its dates, so there is nothing to convert from Bikram Sambat. The passport must also be valid for at least 180 days after the day you arrive.

Details for the Azerbaijan eVisa for Nepalese citizens

The form is in English and asks, traveller by traveller, for the name as printed in the passport (surname in one box, given names in the other), the nationality, which kind of travel document is used, an occupation, the residence address, and the passport’s number and expiry date. A photo-page scan goes with each person, as a JPG, PNG or PDF that stays under 8 MB. Trip information is typed only once for the whole group: arrival date, accommodation and purpose, plus a single email address and telephone number. Nepali mobiles keep all ten digits after the country code, so a number beginning 98 becomes +977 98 and the remaining eight digits. Full document guidance is under visa requirements.

Two travellers: the cost

Fees are charged per head. On standard processing, which delivers within 3 working days and needs an arrival date at least 4 days ahead, the Azerbaijan eVisa for Nepalese citizens is USD 59 a person; on urgent processing, which delivers within 3 hours and works even for travel that same day, it is USD 130. A pair of travellers is therefore looking at USD 118 or USD 260, debited in Azerbaijani manat as AZN 100.30 or AZN 221.00 each. Refund conditions sit on the fee page.

How long the visa lasts

You get 90 days of validity and up to 30 days of stay. Once you pass 15 days in the country, registration at your address becomes compulsory; for staying beyond 30 days, read duration of stay.

No embassy in Kathmandu: New Delhi covers Nepal

Azerbaijan does not have an embassy in Nepal. Its embassy in New Delhi, at 41 Paschimi Marg in Vasant Vihar, is also accredited to Nepal, as well as to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the Maldives and Bhutan, and its website newdelhi.mfa.gov.az carries information on relations with Nepal. You do not need it for the Azerbaijan eVisa for Nepalese citizens. Its contact details are under India on our Azerbaijan embassies page, and our guide for Indian citizens covers travellers on Indian passports.

Once the payment is through
