Is Viet Nam on the eVisa list?

Yes. Vietnamese citizens need a visa for Azerbaijan, since visa-free entry is limited to eight countries, but they can apply electronically. Every nationality with that option is on our eligible countries list, and the Azerbaijan eVisa page explains the basics.

Choose “Viet Nam” in the nationality list

The nationality list on our form uses the United Nations spelling, so Vietnamese travellers select Viet Nam, written as two words, rather than looking for Vietnam. Each traveller picks the nationality of the passport they are travelling on.

Travelling with Thai, Cambodian or Lao companions

Thailand is on the eVisa list, so a Thai friend or relative can be added to the same application. Cambodia and Laos are not on the form, even though Azerbaijan’s embassy in Hanoi is also accredited to both countries, and Chinese passports are not on it either; travellers holding those passports cannot join your application and need to check their own entry rules.

Vietnamese citizens living in Japan, Korea or elsewhere

Many Vietnamese citizens study or work abroad, and the application can be made from wherever you live. The deciding document is the Vietnamese passport, not a residence card. The residence address field takes the address where you live now, even if it is outside Viet Nam, while the accommodation field is for your hotel or address in Azerbaijan.

Details for the Azerbaijan eVisa for Vietnamese citizens

Every person is entered with surname and given names as the passport shows them, nationality, travel document type, occupation, home address, passport number and expiry date, plus a scan of the photo page as a JPG, PNG or PDF of up to 8 MB. The passport has to stay valid for at least 180 days after arrival. The arrival date, accommodation and purpose of travel are filled in once for the group, with one email address and one phone number. A Vietnamese mobile starting 09 or 03 drops the 0 after +84, so 090 becomes +84 90 and the rest of the number. Visa requirements has more detail.

Two speeds and their cost

One processing speed is picked for the whole application. Standard returns a decision within 3 working days and accepts arrival dates at least 4 days after you apply; urgent returns it within 3 hours and suits even a same-day flight. Per traveller the Azerbaijan eVisa for Vietnamese citizens costs USD 59 or USD 130, so a couple pays USD 118 or USD 260, and the card is debited in Azerbaijani manat, AZN 100.30 or AZN 221.00 per person. Refund terms sit on the fee page.

The 90-day window and the 30-day stay

The visa is valid for 90 days and allows a stay of up to 30 days. Once you stay more than 15 days, your address has to be registered, as the migration rules page sets out, and options for a longer visit are on duration of stay.

The embassy on Le Hong Phong street

Azerbaijan’s embassy in Hanoi is at 6A Le Hong Phong street in Ba Dinh district. It plays no part in the Azerbaijan eVisa for Vietnamese citizens; its phone numbers and email addresses are listed under Vietnam on our Azerbaijan embassies page, and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes general visa information.

Review and delivery

Our team takes over once the payment clears, reading each entry against its passport scan and getting back to you if something needs changing. After that the file goes to the official portal for Azerbaijan’s authorities to decide. A yes arrives as an email with a secure link to every traveller’s eVisa, to be printed and kept with that passport; a new link is always available through check your application status. Open the application form for the Azerbaijan eVisa for Vietnamese citizens when your trip is planned, and see the FAQ for other questions.
