Finnish passport holders apply for Azerbaijan’s visa online, with no embassy appointment and no trip to Stockholm. The Azerbaijan eVisa for Finnish citizens is requested on one form for up to ten travellers, and the issued visa is downloaded from a secure link sent by email.
A visa is needed, and it can be done online
Every visit needs a visa. The eight countries with a temporary visa-free arrangement do not include Finland, but Finland does appear on the eVisa list, so the visa is issued electronically after an online application. Anyone in your party who travels on another passport can look that nationality up on the eligible countries list; the Azerbaijan eVisa overview gives the bigger picture of how the electronic visa works.
Renewing your passport first
The passport you apply with must be valid for at least 180 days from the day you enter Azerbaijan. If yours runs out sooner, renew it before you apply rather than after: the Azerbaijan eVisa for Finnish citizens is issued for the passport on the application, so a passport replaced after the visa has been issued no longer matches it, and the new passport would need a new application. The same applies to every traveller in your group.
What the application asks for
For every traveller the form needs the passport details and a clear scan of the data page; for the trip it needs your arrival date, where you will stay and one email address for all messages. What you need to apply lists the scan formats we accept and what makes a scan readable.
How long the visa and the stay last
Once issued, the eVisa stays valid for 90 days, and you may spend no more than 30 days in Azerbaijan within it. Anyone staying beyond 15 days has to be registered where they are staying; the migration rules explain how it is done, and duration of stay covers what applies when the 30 days are up.
Working days and weekends
Urgent applications are processed in 3 hours; standard ones take 3 working days. With standard, the earliest arrival date the form accepts is 4 days after the day you apply, while urgent accepts the same day. Saturdays and Sundays are not working days, so a standard application sent on a Friday may only be completed in the middle of the following week, even though the form already allows an arrival on the Tuesday. If you apply close to a weekend and travel soon after, leave extra days or choose urgent.
Cost of the Azerbaijan eVisa for Finnish citizens
Each traveller pays USD 59 for standard processing or USD 130 for urgent, and the total is that price times the number of travellers: three travellers on urgent pay USD 390. The charge is made in Azerbaijani manat (AZN), with dollars shown for reference, and the fee page explains which part of each price can be refunded.
No embassy in Finland: the Stockholm embassy
Azerbaijan has no embassy in Finland. Its embassy in Stockholm, at Barnhusgatan 3, is also accredited to Finland and Norway and publishes its information at stockholm.mfa.gov.az. You do not need it for an eVisa; it handles other visa categories, for instance a stay longer than 30 days, and consular matters. For phone numbers and email addresses, see the Sweden entry on our Azerbaijan embassies page.
What happens after you pay
We review the application before it is submitted to the official portal and contact you if something needs correcting. The decision itself comes from the Azerbaijani authorities, and once it is recorded you receive an email with a secure link to download each traveller’s eVisa, which you should print and carry with the passport it was issued for. Status updates are emailed along the way, and entering your application reference and email address on check your application status sends you a link to the current status. Start your application for the Azerbaijan eVisa for Finnish citizens when your dates are fixed, and see the FAQ for other questions.
