Do Hungarian citizens need a visa for Azerbaijan?
Yes. Hungary is not one of the countries covered by the temporary visa-free arrangements Azerbaijan currently operates, so a Hungarian passport holder needs a visa before travelling. The useful part is that the electronic route is open to Hungary, which makes it the straightforward option for most trips.
Azerbaijan eVisa eligibility for Hungarian citizens
Eligibility is decided by the passport you travel on, not by where you live. A Hungarian passport holder applying from Budapest and one applying from abroad are treated the same way. Hungary appears on the eligible countries list in its own right, and the process as a whole is set out on our Azerbaijan eVisa page.
Passport and document requirements
Your passport or travel document must have at least 180 days — six months — of validity remaining. You will also need a clear scan of its photo page, your travel dates, where you are staying, and an email address you can actually access. What you need to apply covers the document rules in full, including what makes a passport scan acceptable.
Azerbaijan eVisa validity and permitted stay
These are two separate things and it is worth keeping them apart. The eVisa is valid for 90 days. The maximum stay it permits is up to 30 days. The two numbers answer different questions — how long the visa itself remains valid, and how long you may remain in Azerbaijan on it. Being granted a 90-day visa does not mean 90 days in the country.
Processing options
There are two processing speeds. Standard processing takes 3 working days. Urgent processing takes 3 hours. Both cover the same application and the same checks; the difference is how quickly it is handled once submitted.
Azerbaijan eVisa cost
Through this service an application costs USD 59 for standard processing or USD 130 for urgent processing. Each is a single total covering one application, and one application can cover more than one traveller. How to apply
You complete one form, add each traveller with a passport scan for every one of them, review everything on a single page and pay. We check the application before it is submitted and come back to you if something is missing or a scan will not pass. You can start an application whenever you are ready.

We email you as the application moves between stages. If you would rather look it up yourself, you can check your application status using your reference and the email address you applied with.
