Do Israeli citizens need a visa for Azerbaijan?

Yes. Israel is not one of the eight countries that currently have a temporary visa-free arrangement with Azerbaijan, so Israeli passport holders need a visa before travelling. Israel is on the eVisa list, so the visa can be requested entirely online.

Eligibility

What matters is the passport you travel on. Israeli passport holders are eligible regardless of where they apply from. Anyone travelling on a different passport should check that nationality on the eligible countries list; the eVisa in general is described on the Azerbaijan eVisa page. Azerbaijan’s official visa rules are published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Choosing your purpose of visit

The application asks for your purpose of visit, chosen from a fixed list: tourism, business trip, science, education, labor, culture, sports, humanitarian, medical treatment, personal trip and official trip. Choose the one that matches what you will actually do. While you are in Azerbaijan you must keep to the purpose you declared, as explained on purpose of visa. Note that an eVisa does not give the right to paid work; working requires a labour visa or a work permit under the migration rules.

Passport and documents

Your Israeli passport must be valid for at least 180 days — six months. The application also needs a clear scan of the passport data page (JPEG, PNG or PDF, up to 8 MB), your arrival date, your accommodation in Azerbaijan and an email address you check. What you need to apply has the full requirements.

Validity and permitted stay

The eVisa is valid for 90 days and permits a stay of up to 30 days. Keep the difference in mind when planning: the visa can be valid for longer than you are allowed to stay. Duration of stay explains the rules, and if you stay more than 15 days you must be registered at your place of stay.

Processing times for the Azerbaijan eVisa for Israeli citizens

Choose standard processing, which takes 3 working days, or urgent processing, which takes 3 hours. For standard processing the arrival date must be at least 4 days after you apply; urgent processing accepts an arrival on the same day.

Cost

Through this service the Azerbaijan eVisa for Israeli citizens costs USD 59 per traveller with standard processing or USD 130 per traveller with urgent processing, and your total — the price multiplied by the number of travellers — is shown before payment. Payment is taken in Azerbaijani manat (AZN); the dollar amounts are for information. The fee page explains what can be refunded.

What your result means

A result is recorded for each traveller on the application. Approved means a decision in that traveller’s favour, and the issued document can be downloaded from your secure link. Rejected means the application was not successful for that traveller. Until a decision arrives the result shows as pending. The decision itself is made by the Azerbaijani authorities; how each stage works is described on check your application status.
