Italian citizens get Azerbaijan’s visa online, with no visit to the embassy in Rome. The Azerbaijan eVisa for Italian citizens is requested on a single form, for one traveller or for a group of up to ten, and the approved visa arrives as a secure download link in your inbox.

No visa-free entry on an Italian passport
Azerbaijan’s eight temporary visa-free arrangements do not include Italy, so every trip on an Italian passport needs a visa. Italy is on the eVisa list, however, and the electronic route replaces the paperwork entirely. If you travel with people who hold other passports, their nationalities can be checked on the eligible countries list; the Azerbaijan eVisa page sets out how the electronic visa works.
Compound surnames and several given names
Many Italian names do not fit a single short field: surnames such as De Luca, Di Stefano or Dell’Acqua, and passports that list two or three given names. The form asks for the surname and the given names exactly as they appear in the passport, so keep the space or apostrophe where the passport has one and include every given name it shows, in the same order. Writing the name the way you sign it rather than the way the passport prints it is the kind of mismatch we will ask you to correct before anything is submitted.
Passport, scan and trip details
For an application for the Azerbaijan eVisa for Italian citizens, each passport must be valid for at least 180 days after your arrival in Azerbaijan, and each traveller needs a sharp scan of the photo page. The trip itself needs the arrival date, the hotel or address where you will stay, a phone number in international format (+39 for Italian numbers) and an email address you check. What you need to apply details the accepted scan files.
How long the visa covers you
The eVisa remains valid for 90 days and, within those 90 days, covers a stay of up to 30 days in Azerbaijan. A visit lasting more than 15 days also requires registration at the address where you stay, as explained in the migration rules, while duration of stay deals with what happens at the end of the 30 days.
Processing choices and cost of the Azerbaijan eVisa for Italian citizens
Two processing speeds are offered, and one of them is chosen for the whole application. Standard is completed within 3 working days and needs your arrival to be at least 4 days after the application date; urgent is completed within 3 hours and works for an arrival the same day. The price is set per person: USD 59 on standard or USD 130 on urgent, so a group of seven on standard pays USD 413. The charge is made in Azerbaijani manat (AZN), with dollars given as a guide, and the fee page explains the refundable part.
The Rome embassy, San Marino and Malta
The eVisa does not involve the embassy at all. The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Rome, on Viale Regina Margherita, also represents Azerbaijan at the United Nations food agencies based in the city and is accredited to San Marino and Malta, both of which are on the eVisa list too, so Sammarinese and Maltese citizens can apply the same way. Its information is published at rome.mfa.gov.az, and there are honorary consulates in Genoa and Catania; contact details for all three are listed under Italy on our Azerbaijan embassies page.
Once you have applied
After payment our team checks the application from start to finish and contacts you if a name, a scan or a date needs changing; only then is it submitted to the official portal. The visa itself is granted by the Azerbaijani authorities. As soon as their decision is recorded you are emailed a secure link to each traveller’s eVisa, which should be printed and kept with the matching passport. Your reference and email address, entered on check your application status, bring a fresh status link whenever you want one. Start your application for the Azerbaijan eVisa for Italian citizens once the trip is booked; the FAQ covers the questions travellers ask most.
