UK passport holders need a visa for Azerbaijan, and it can be arranged entirely online. The Azerbaijan eVisa for UK citizens is applied for on one form, without an embassy appointment, and the issued visa is sent as a secure download link to your email.
Finding the United Kingdom on the form
The United Kingdom is not one of the eight countries with a temporary visa-free arrangement, so British travellers need a visa, and it is on the eVisa list, so that visa can be requested online. In the nationality list the country appears under its full official name, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; you will not find it under England, Scotland, Wales or Great Britain. Which British passports this covers
This page is written for holders of a passport that gives their nationality as British Citizen. Some British passports record a different status, such as British National (Overseas) or British Overseas Territories Citizen. If yours is one of those, ask the embassy in London what applies before you book anything, because this page does not cover those statuses.
British and Irish passports
If you hold both a British and an Irish passport, as is common in Northern Ireland, note that Ireland is on the eVisa list too, so either can be used; choose the one you will actually travel on and show at the border, since the eVisa is tied to that passport and its number.
Passport checks before applying
Whichever passport you use for the Azerbaijan eVisa for UK citizens needs at least 180 days of validity left on the day you land in Azerbaijan, so renew it first if it does not. You will also upload a photo-page scan for every traveller and give your arrival date, an address in Azerbaijan and an email address you read; what you need to apply describes the accepted scans.
Length of stay and registration
Once issued, the Azerbaijan eVisa for UK citizens is valid for 90 days, of which up to 30 days can be spent in Azerbaijan: a fortnight’s holiday fits easily, a two-month posting does not. Processing options and cost of the Azerbaijan eVisa for UK citizens
If your flight is later this week or beyond, standard processing is enough: 3 working days, with an arrival at least 4 days after you apply. For a trip at short notice, urgent processing takes 3 hours and accepts an arrival that same day. Five people on urgent pay USD 650, which is USD 130 each, while standard costs USD 59 per person. The London embassy and the countries it covers
For an eVisa you never need to contact the embassy. The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in London, at 4 Kensington Court, W8 5DL, has a consular department, deals with other visa categories and consular questions, and is also accredited to Ireland, Denmark and Iceland.
