An Azerbaijan eVisa is an electronic entry visa you apply for online and print before you travel. There is no embassy appointment and no sticker in your passport: the whole Azerbaijan eVisa application is made online, for up to ten travellers at a time.
What the Azerbaijan eVisa is
It is a single electronic document tied to the passport you apply with. You complete an application, it is reviewed by the Azerbaijani authorities, and if it is approved you receive a document to print and carry. It is valid for 90 days and permits a stay of up to 30 days — the validity period and the length of stay are not the same thing. It is not attached to the passport itself, so you present the two together at the border.
Who needs a visa
That depends on the passport you hold. Some nationalities can use the electronic route, some currently have a temporary visa-free arrangement instead, and others have to approach an Azerbaijani diplomatic mission. The published list settles it rather than guesswork.
Check whether you are eligible
Our eligible countries page carries the full list, along with the temporary arrangements that currently apply to eight of those countries. Where we have written a page for a specific nationality it is linked from there, and every one of them is listed below.
Guides for individual nationalities
Some nationalities have a guide of their own. If you are preparing an Azerbaijan eVisa application on one of these passports, its guide covers what travellers from that country ask us about most:
- Azerbaijan eVisa for Austrian citizens: travelling with partners of another nationality, and staying beyond 30 days
- Azerbaijan eVisa for Bulgarian citizens: what can be refunded if plans change, and answering a request for more information
- Azerbaijan eVisa for Croatian citizens: the travel document and occupation fields, and one contact for a whole group
- Azerbaijan eVisa for Cypriot citizens: no embassy needed, finishing the form later, and one processing speed per application
- Azerbaijan eVisa for Czech citizens: choosing Czechia on the form and different surnames within one family
- Azerbaijan eVisa for Estonian citizens: who it covers (not the grey alien passport), and what each stage asks of you
- Azerbaijan eVisa for Finnish citizens: renewing your passport before applying, and how weekends affect standard processing
- Azerbaijan eVisa for French citizens: our fee compared with applying on the official portal
- Azerbaijan eVisa for German citizens: dual nationals and children on the application
- Azerbaijan eVisa for Greek citizens: a passport rather than the identity card, and your name in Latin letters
- Azerbaijan eVisa for Hungarian citizens: entering your details exactly and registering a longer stay
- Azerbaijan eVisa for Indian citizens: when to apply and which arrival dates the form accepts
- Azerbaijan eVisa for Israeli citizens: choosing a purpose of visit and what each result means
- Azerbaijan eVisa for Pakistani citizens: applying as a family and preparing passport scans
What you need
A passport with enough validity left, a clear scan of its data page, your travel dates, where you are staying, and an email address you actually check. The official rule is that your document stays valid for at least 180 days — six months. What you need to apply sets out the detail, including what makes a passport scan acceptable.
What it costs
Through this service the eVisa is USD 59 per traveller for standard processing or USD 130 per traveller for urgent. One Azerbaijan eVisa application can cover up to ten travellers, and the total is the price multiplied by the number of travellers. The fee page breaks down what is refundable and compares our route with applying directly through the official portal, which costs less if you would rather do the work yourself.
How an Azerbaijan eVisa application works
You complete one form, add each traveller and upload a passport scan for every one of them, then review everything on a single page and pay. We check what you have sent before it is submitted and come back to you if something is missing. The official system expects an application at least three working days before travel, so leave room rather than applying the night before.
Standard or urgent processing
Every Azerbaijan eVisa application is processed at one of two speeds, chosen on the form: standard processing takes 3 working days and urgent processing takes 3 hours. The speed describes the processing option you pay for, not the decision itself — that is made by the Azerbaijani authorities, whose visa rules are published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
After a decision
When there is a result we email you a secure link. It shows the outcome for each traveller on the application and lets you download any eVisa that was issued. Print it, keep a copy on your phone, and present it at the border together with the passport you applied on.
Checking an application
We email you as an application moves between stages. If you would rather look it up, you can check the status of your application with your reference and the email address you applied with.
Common questions
Whether this is the official government site, what happens with several travellers on one application, why a passport scan can be refused — the FAQ answers the questions we are asked most often.
